holoscopic · story chain

Tell a story. Pass it on. See what everyone said.

A story chain is a game played by text message. A friend sends you a topic. You reply with a short story, by text or voice memo, then pick a topic for the next people and pass it to a few friends. When enough stories are in, everyone in the chain gets a private link to a map of how the chain grew and what people shared.

How to join

  1. A friend in a chain sends you a code. Text that code to (555) 000-0000. Texting the code is how you agree to get messages about the game from this number.
  2. The line texts you back with your topic. Reply with your story.
  3. It asks what name to show (or none), and a topic for your friends, then gives you a text to forward.

The line is automated; organizers read along. Expect about 5–8 messages per game. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop, HELP for help. We never text anyone who hasn't texted us first or agreed with an organizer to play.
